1. Content Is Easy. Connection Is Everything.
Let's be honest. You can post something on Facebook or Instagram every day and still not connect with a single person.
You can post about better sleep, the benefits of meditation, or how to train for a 5K. But if people have heard the same advice a hundred times, will they stop scrolling?
Don't just give people information. Give them a reason to think.
I love those light-bulb moments—when you say something that makes someone stop and think, “Wait a minute… I never thought about it that way!”
Instead of telling someone who struggles to run a mile to keep practicing, ask:
“What if the reason you can't run a mile isn't your endurance, but how your body is handling the load?”
Instead of another generic post about getting better sleep, explore how pain, movement, and daily habits might be affecting someone's rest.
You don't have to avoid popular topics. You just need to bring a fresh perspective, useful education, and your clinic's expertise to the conversation.
Remember the three Cs:
- Content: Give people something worth reading or watching.
- Connection: Make them feel understood and show them you have something meaningful to offer.
- Conversion: Give them a clear next step, whether that's learning more, contacting your clinic, or scheduling an appointment.
Not every post needs to generate an appointment. But every post should have a purpose.
2. Give Your Marketing a Fall Reset
Just as we're preparing our homes and routines for the months ahead, it's time to check in on your marketing.
Ask yourself:
What's working? Which posts, videos, emails, or community activities are getting attention?
What's being neglected? Have videos disappeared? Are you asking for Google reviews? Are you keeping in touch with past patients?
Who's missing from your marketing? Summer can be busy for families, but it can also be a lonely time for older adults whose routines and family visits have changed.
Fall is a great opportunity to talk about strength, balance, mobility, and confidence for older adults.
And let's go beyond the usual reminders to remove throw rugs and clear walkways.
What about helping someone build the strength and balance to feel confident getting out of a chair, walking through the grocery store, or enjoying time with their grandchildren?
The goal isn't just to prevent a fall. It's to help people feel confident living their lives.
That's a message worth sharing.
3. Know Where Your Next Patients Might Come From
September brings a change in activity, too. School sports are back, dance classes resume, and running clubs and recreational leagues pick up again.
So here's a question: Are you waiting for these people to find you, or are you building relationships with the people who already know them?
Reach out to local athletic trainers, coaches, athletic directors, running clubs, dance studios, and other organizations that fit your community.
Invite someone for a coffee. Get to know what they do, what challenges they see, and how your clinic might be a helpful resource.
You don't need to walk in with a sales pitch. You need to start a conversation and build a genuine relationship.
And when you post on social media, reinforce that connection. Share helpful information about staying active, recognizing when an injury needs attention, and knowing when to seek professional guidance.
Of course, athletes aren't the only people who need your help.
Always ask yourself: Who else in my community could benefit from what we do?
Think beyond your usual audience. Look for opportunities to educate, connect, and remind people that your clinic is here to help.
Your Fall Marketing Challenge
Before you plan another month of social media posts, take 15 minutes to review your marketing.
What's working? What's missing? Who needs to hear from you? And are you giving people a reason to remember you?
You don't need to do everything. You need to do the right things with intention.
Because there's a big difference between filling a calendar with content and building relationships that help your clinic grow.
This fall, don't just post. Make people think. Build connections. Create opportunities.
That's marketing with purpose.
